When it comes to updating my blog that is *grins* Excuses aside, I just feel that I have less to talk about right now.

Things have been going well, my work permit came through, all shiny and wonderful. So last Friday DmentD and I took a trip to the Social Security Office so I could apply for a number.. It went as all government related things go, over an hour sat in the waiting room reading (as if the two of us would go anywhere without our books!) and then five minutes at the window as they take my information. My card will arrive in a couple of weeks and I’ll be legal to work.. Still waiting on the interview date so I can stay!

My birthday has come and gone, we had a nice weekend, DmentD bought me some pretty summer dresses (yes, dresses!) on the Friday, unplanned, but very nice. We had a bbq on the Saturday for a friend’s birthday where I spent a lot of time in the nice cool pool, and on the Sunday we went out to Estancia Churrascaria, a Brazilian steakhouse, my first experience of one. It was delicious, the service was amazing, a good time was had. And a thank you to everyone for the cards and presents and good wishes.

Work (externship) is going well. I finally came straight out and asked if there would be the possibility of a job afterwards (since I just had my supervisor evaluation and came out of it looking very good!).. There might be.. they would like to hire someone new, but they need another contract to be able to pay another member of staff, so we’ll see, and at least now it’s out in the open and they know I’m interested, and all sides can stop dropping hints!

Last week we had a deep clean.. it’s been a while since I had had to do a full one (the library, nearly two and a half years ago now) and the horrors of it had faded from my mind! We didn’t had rubber gloves so we could only use the little latex ones, and then tape our sleeves tight to our arms! Keeping our bandanas over our hair, and tying towels round our faces as we didn’t have masks! It was quite a sight, and entertaining to us, a welcome laugh among the hard work.. That kitchen was spotless, we scrubbed ovens, cookers, equipment, floors, ceilings!

Cleaning

This weekend at home I made kolaches! We got a very tasty sausage from Sams, roasted garlic, mozarella and chicken! I found the recipe online and played about with it a little to make it how I wanted it (no shortening, all butter etc). I amĀ  very happy with how they turned out, definitely a good base recipe, now I can play about with fillings! I only baked a few of them off, the rest are in the freezer ready to go, we can pull them out the night before and let them defrost and proof in the fridge overnight et voila! Fresh kolaches for breakfast! That idea makes me a happy girl!
